NGOTech Volunteer Network

Technology Talent Community Impact

network purpose

A practical bridge between technology volunteers and community work

The NGOTech volunteer network helps NGOs and nonprofits find people ready to share technology skills in service of community work. Volunteers can build experience, strengthen their resumes, and grow meaningful nonprofit relationships, while organizations can review public profiles, skills, availability, social proof, and verification status before starting a conversation.

Public listing requirement LinkedIn, GitHub, and one additional social profile are required. Contact unlocks after email verification.
Green and Gold badges Public profiles are email verified. Gold verification adds the optional background-check process.
Volunteer-first service This directory is for community contribution, not soliciting paid clients.

Find Technology Volunteers

Discover people who want to use technology skills for community impact. Search results help organizations compare practical experience, availability, location, skills, adult volunteer ratings, and social proof before opening full profile details or saving volunteers for a future project.

volunteer profile

Create or edit your volunteer profile

Create a profile to show how you want to help NGOs and community organizations. Beginners can build experience and resumes, while seasoned technology leaders can mentor, advise, and give back. This is a volunteer opportunity directory, not a place to solicit paid clients.

organization account

Create an organization account

Organization accounts are separate from volunteer profiles. Use this form to request organization access for saving searches, favoriting profiles, bookmarks, and feedback. Choose a password now, then validate the email address before signing in from the main Sign In dialog.

volunteer verification

Volunteer Verification

Volunteer verification has multiple steps. Profiles that have not completed email verification can display a grey pending badge and remain listed, but they cannot be contacted until verification is complete. Email-verified live user accounts display a Green Verification Badge. Ratings and feedback remain part of the regular trust review process. The optional paid Gold Verification service is a separate background-check workflow for volunteers or, for 16 or 17 year old volunteers, the parent or guardian aiding registration.

Note: Earning a Gold Verification Badge is a paid service and is not required to get started. It is an added benefit that some organizations may require before a volunteer works with sensitive data or materials. Each organization may choose to do its own vetting outside NGOTech's Volunteer portal, and we respect that. We are here to help when an organization requires a background check for people working on its projects.

1

Grey pending badge

Profiles may be listed while email verification is pending, but contact is locked.

2

Green badge

Confirm the account email so the public profile represents a live user account.

3

Skill evidence

Review reasonable proof such as work samples, certifications, references, or portfolio links.

4

Rating review

If a volunteer falls below 4.5, NGOTech may contact the volunteer and organizations who shared feedback, then decide whether the profile should be reinstated.

organization verification

Organization Verification

Organization accounts have their own trust path so volunteers and NGOTech can understand who is using the service. Email validation starts the workflow, while Gold organization status is reserved for US NGOs and nonprofits whose EIN, IRS status, submitted details, and contact information align after review.

1

Grey status

The organization account is created or listed but has not completed verification.

2

Orange status

Email is verified, but the account does not use a qualified organization-domain address.

3

Green status

Email verification is complete with a qualified domain-based organization address.

International Gold status verification is still in development. Organizations outside the United States without a US partner organization and EIN can complete email verification, but should contact NGOTech for case-by-case review before Gold status can be considered.
